The truck was heading down a road that seemed to have no end. It was a relief to everyone inside when a small airfield came into view across the horizen. So this is it? the German Commander asked himself while they pulled alongside the area and drove around to the back without going through the middle. All this trouble for such a small squad of Americans?
The truck halted at the entrance to a large bunker. Five other German soldiers besides the commander stepped out of the back of the truck and loaded a few rifles, ready to storm the base at the command. The German Commander had instructed each soldier that a small group of rebel American hostages were dug into this bunker. It seemed that apparently they thought a small squad of six ought to be enough, and so here they were.
"Keep quiet, these Americans are ruthless according to the stories from the other squads," the German Commander spoke in his native language. They entered through an open window, worrying about the noise of the barred gate that lay next to it. The searched the room, looking for any sign of the intruders. "This is dangerous, leave your rifles here. They want us to find them, so pull out your machinegun pistol."
The soldiers ditched their rifles as they walked into the room across the hall. They peered around the room quickly, easily noticing there was nowhere to hide. The German gave a signal to move upstairs with caution. One by one, the Germans creeped up the stairs, ever so slightly. The lead German popped his head over the railing, and noticing no gunfire, resumed his pace upstairs. They quickly searched that room, with the same results as the previous endeavors.
"It seems to be only one room left Commander," a German recruit pointed out to his CO. The Commander looked across the hall, and something caught his eye. He thought he saw a glint of silver, possibly from the sun on the railing of the stairs. He ordered a private to check it out, while the rest covered him. The private walked slowly through the door, waiting for anything that could happen instantly, gun at the ready. He jumped into the room and spun around. At that very second, a knife flashed out of nowhere, killing the German instantly, making him drop to the floor.
"Good work Tank," Cpt. Richards said. He poked his head out the doorway and saw a bunch of Germans with eyes wide. "Ah shit!" Cpt. Richards shouted as the Germans suddenly opened fire on the two marines. Richards threw Tank a colt, who used it wisely and with incredible skill only he could posess to wipe two Germans out. The commander ordered a retreat for him and the remaining two, as they ran down the stairs. Once in the room downstairs, they thought if they could walk up slowly and take them with cover, this would be a mission completed with no more causlties.
That was before there was a noise behind him. He spun around, and saw a chunk mission from a wall.
"See yah pops," Srg. White said as he pistoled as well, another two Germans. It was only the German commander left now, as he shot a few rounds into the wall. He missed White completely, and was unable to reload before he was shot himself.
It was only a flesh wound, and would not kill the Commander. Maybe they just wanted information or a ride out of the area?
"Good shots boys," Cpt. Richards informed them as they regrouped downstairs in the room with the metal gate. They dragged the Commander and leaned him against the wall, just to keep an eye on him for later.
"Does anyone know what happened to Pvt. Andy?" Richards asked the group. Andy suddenly came from upstairs, humming a tune to himself.
"Where the hell have you been Andy?" Tank demanded once Andy decided to show up.
"Dont yell just yet Tank, for you might like to know how I scrounged up a few more pistol rounds from a small stash that our buddies mustve left not too far from here," Andy replied, handing out a few clips for everybody.
"I already checked the MP40 ammo, and theres not enough to go around, and even combined into one gun wouldnt be much use. It seems that they thought they wouldnt need as much ammo as it would really take."
"Whatever Andy, its just your gonna have to stop dawdling off every time theres rea- wheres the Commander?" Richards asked?
They looked around and saw him sitting over a few feet away tucked into a corner turned over. "Maybe we should just put him out of his misery."
The Commander turned over, and he was holding a large detonater in his hand. He pressed the button a second before Tank shot him in between his eyes.
There was a moment of silence, before an explosion ripped through the airfield. It shook the ground, destoryed the outlying areas, and destoryed the ground, making it cracked, hard, and gray. Luckily, the Commander places none around the bunker, so they were fine.
"What the HELL was that?" White asked as he looked around the airfield. "Hey Cap, I think I see someone off in the distance! Do you think its reinforcments?"
Cpt. Richards peered through a set of binoculars he liked to keep with him. It was a sight that he couldnt understand, and blew him away. He couldnt even believe it himself.
"Thats not reinforcments soldeir. The opposite in fact. Board the windows ASAP."
"What is it sir? More Germans?" Andy asked while taking a few wood pieces from rubble that was placed on the stiars and patching a window.
"I wouldnt say exactly that. Take a look through these."
Suddenly, a roar ripped through the silence and cackle of flames...
